We're proud to introduce Daniel Benson to HM. Forever Young is the perfect introduction to his work an his ability to capture beauty in the rough...
"I'd been working on an article about a young, up and coming BMX'er who lived in Croydon for a BMX publication I worked for at the time. It was no secret how good he was, but his level of commitment, just how much time he spent on his bike was astounding. Alex had a great style, too; on and off his bike. I suggested to iD magazine about shooting a fashion story with him around his local haunts. This particular shot came from a test shoot in the run up to the main shoot. I'd noticed his hands right away, with the tattoos and the obvious irony it gave off against the condition of his palms. Alex can't have been much older than 17 here, but his hands, constantly cracked and cut, looked more like the hands of someone twice his age."
